Our Classes
All of our classes include strength, agility, cardio and plyo elements. The 45 minute sessions cater for a wide range of physical fitness and strength levels. We train in Group fitness as we believe in the power of community and the support and motivation that comes from a tight knit group; will help empower you to achieve your very best.
Progressing over the week between the 3 Big Lifts – Squat, Deadlift and Bench Press, we focus on form and proper execution to build strength using progressive overload. In this class we also add accessory exercises to complement the bigger lifts by targeting specific muscle groups and enhancing overall performance.
(Duration: 45 minutes)
This low-impact exercise class will aim to strengthen muscles while improving postural alignment and flexibility. Focusing on correct form and core control, this class will have muscles you didn’t know you had on fire! Mat Pilates will guide you into a healthier, stronger body that will support you in everyday life as well as form a firm foundation for your weight and cardio training. Please bring a sweat towel and a Water bottle. (45min)
Using Lighter weights and dynamic exercises, our Cardio Circuit will have your heart pumping and your lungs burning. This class is great to increase your fitness and have some fun moving more! Please bring a sweat towel and a Water bottle. (45min)
A series of Weighted or Body weight exercises performed at peak output, it could be an AMRAP, Accumulator format or sets for time workout. This Metabolic Conditioning workout is great for Muscle Building, Fitness Conditioning and Weight loss/maintenance. Usually Includes a core finisher. Please bring a sweat towel and a Water bottle. (35-45min – depending how fast you GET IT DONE!)
Using a variety of weights including dumbbells and kettle bells. This workout will use, tempos and concentrated muscle contractions throughout the eccentric and concentric movements to enhance muscle burn and make this workout one you’ll feel for days. Please Bring a Sweat Towel and a Water Bottle (45 mins)
This Partnered workout allows you to rest between exercises while your partner is working, using a variety of bodyweight and equipment exercises, be prepared to get your heart rate up and your muscles pumping. Please Bring a Sweat Towel and a Water Bottle (45 Mins)

I have always been a sporty person especially growing up; however like a lot of us, I stopped doing sport and general exercise after leaving high school. With an amazing metabolism and underlying natural abilities in strength and fitness, I was able to live an active life of rock climbing, hiking, etc without the need for “exercise” . It wasn’t until after babies… of course, that I found the food I was eating was sticking around the hips and after a whole life of “eat whatever” the harsh reality kicked in…. nothing was ever going to be the same again. It took years of varying my exercise style until for me I finally saw some real results.. this was in my NUTRITION with regular exercise that I lost 10kg before my baby sister got married. It wasn’t until quite a few years after that however that I actually found a style of exercise that I LOVE! I’m not sure if it’s the style or the fact that I became part of a community of like minded people who encouraged me and helped me on my Journey. I was hooked and decided I needed to help others like me find a place on their Journey where they can progress at their own pace, feel a sense of belonging in a safe, supportive environment and see real results in general health, fitness, body shape and body confidence. I’m still on my journey of Health and Fitness, I’m excited to push heavier weight and be the best I can be. I’d love to help you in your journey. No matter what your starting point is… no matter what your age, it’s never too late! Your only regret will be that you didn’t start sooner…once you realise this however, you get over it…and get going on your Journey to the best you that you can be.

If I’m completely honest, I haven’t always loved exercising. Growing up, I enjoyed playing Volleyball at school and I was always active, but I wouldn’t have considered myself to be a sporty person as such. Fast forward a few years, 3 kids later and after hitting 30, the weight just didn’t drop off as easily as it used to! I knew I had to do something. In 2018 a friend of mine messaged saying there was an Ab’s Butt and Thigh exercise class in the park just across from where I lived and that we should go and try it out… well, we went, met Sonja, I loved it and the rest is history. The community that is Life Fit Functional Training is second to none. This incredible community that Sonja has created really is something else and has given me the tools to create a healthier and more active lifestyle for not only myself but also my family. I have enjoyed my fitness journey so much that last year (2021) I completed my cert 3 in fitness and then at the beginning of this year, started working at Life Fit FT as a group fitness trainer. I am so thankful I found Life Fit when I did because it has quite literally changed my life!
Louise Sutherland
From a young age I have always enjoyed sports. In primary school I was always involved in athletics day placing in the top five in Sprints, High Jump and Long jump. Moving into High School I stopped doing sport which led to my body retaining weight, which I was constantly teased about it. Since then I have continually struggled with my weight and have been on a constant roller coaster with it. Throughout the years I have been a member of many gyms. It wasn’t until I had my own Personal Trainer that, with their help, I was finally able to achieve a body weight I was happy with, which was just before I turned thirty. From there I found my passion in health and fitness and knew that’s where I wanted to be.
After having two babies and moving to the Redlands I needed to get my health back on track and find my fitness again which led me to meeting Sonja and Life Fit Functional training.
The community that is Life Fit is one in a million! All thanks to Sonja and the amazing community of like minded people, who are dedicated to bettering themselves through fitness and nutrition.
Being a part of Life Fit Community, I was able to complete my Cert 3&4 in Fitness. Having a passion for helping others with their own health and fitness, is why I have become to love being a coach at life fit.
Exercise for me is not only about losing body fat, but for long term health, for stronger bones, stronger muscles, and a stronger heart! We need to be as healthy as we can so we can share and spend time with the people in our lives that we love.

Samantha Walters
I grew up dancing. I had my first ballet lesson at 3! I fell in love with it and spent countless hours in the studio. I eventually trained full-time as a contemporary dancer in New Zealand and shortly after that I moved to Brisbane to join a dance company and dance professionally. It was literally a dream come true, it took me all over the world and throughout Australia but it was extremely hard on the body… six years in, I sustained a back injury and decided it was time to retire from dance.
Alongside my dance training, I had always practised Pilates so, I decided to become an instructor. I completed my Pilates instructor training in Australia and the United Kingdom and have been teaching since 2014. To me, Pilates means balance, to work the body efficiently. It is about finding the coordination of mind, body, breath, and movement.
I have been a member at Life Fit Functional Training for a few years now, the style of exercise was new to me and now I absolutely love it… not only for the high level of instruction and guidance at every class but also for the beautiful community I have come to know and love. It is such a privilege and honor to now be teaching Pilates at Life Fit!

We know you’ve met Jess on here previously but she did so well in our Transformers Challenge that ended just over a week ago, we had to share with you, her success! Jess always gives 100% dedication and focus EVERY time.
Jess lost 2.5kg in weight, dropped her body fat percentage by 2.5% and lost a total of 7.5cm in circumference. Jess’ end scan showed a balance of fat and muscle, and therefore she won 1/2 price for next challenge!
Now, Jess always looks amazing and never has a huge amount of change to achieve at the beginning of a challenge so we asked her why she continues to challenge each time? Here’s what Jess had to say…
‘I’ve been going to Sonja since she started in May 2017. Almost 6 years of doing challenges and I counted a total of 11 challenges done! I guess the reason I continue to participate in challenges is because I love the challenge! I enjoy setting myself little personal goals, I enjoy eating healthier and pushing myself at the gym to lift that little bit heavier. I feel more focused when on a challenge and I love being apart of a group of people who are so encouraging of everyone and celebrates the big and little achievements with each other”.

I joined LifeFit 18 months ago. My family and I were new to the area and it was important for me to get connected and start exercising as soon as possible so we could feel a part of our new community ! It was the best decision we could have made ! My whole family are now members . Sonja, Jess, Louise and Sam are excellent trainers and always ensure that all movement and techniques are performed correctly which minimises the risk of injury . I’m a newbie to Life Fit having only joined a couple of months ago. After knowing I needed to put time into my health and fitness but not wanting to start at a big chain gym, I looked around the local area for a more personalised gym, well I found it… and so much more.
I have found a community who cheer everyone on no matter what your ability! I was made welcome from the first day I stepped into the gym. The team are amazing, customising the workouts to what you can do and really focusing on how you do the exercise to ensure you are getting the most from your workout. I am doing things that I assumed I could not do, and loving it!

I’ve been a Lifer since Day 1, through many seasons and curveballs of life. Life Fit has been the one consistent thing – not because I’m a massive gym junkie or I’m super fit – but because of the sense of community and togetherness Sonja and the team have cultivated. There is a big focus on doing the exercises correctly, which is what I love, I’d much rather do something with good form on a lower weight than throwing round heavy weights and risk injuring myself. It also makes pushing up your PB’s that much sweeter.
I’ve made some of the best of friends at Life Fit. When I had two hours before a snap Covid lockdown to move house, a team of Lifers was there waiting for me – something I’ll never ever forget.

I joined Life Fit about 4 months after the birth of my second son. At that time I was needing support getting back in to exercise and by chance I found Sonja.
Since then I have found myself a second family. I have built some wonderful friendships with my fellow Lifers who reflect positivity and support in all directions.
My passion lies with long distance running but I partner that with weekly weights training. I also enjoy participating in challenges and meal preparation plans, all of which are fully supported and guided by the coaches.
The best thing I find is I don’t feel pressured to come to the gym every day. Being a busy working mum of 2, sometimes once a week is all I can muster. But I show up and give 100% and in return Sonja, Jess and Louise give back the same, pushing everyone to reach their full potential.

I have been attending Life.fit for about 18 months and look forward to each session. It has been a life style change and best decision for my health and well-being. Initially my goal was to enhance my fitness and I could benefit from the sessions. The changes were scheduling regular exercise into my week, being conscious of my diet, body shape changes, increased fitness, more energy and running regularly plus doing 10km fun runs. My goals currently are to improve my strength, fitness level and stay healthy. Sonja’s Life.fit program/sessions are always well organized and adjusted to suit each person’s needs. I have been training with Life Fit FT since retiring about 18 months ago. My initial goal was to stay as strong and independent as possible through my “senior” years. Never having been sporty or athletic, when I first met Sonja I couldn’t do anything – literally!!! Not a single sit up, push up, bear crawl -nothing! Since then, with Sonja’s encouragement and guidance, I have achieved a level of fitness I never thought possible. I coaxed Eugene into joining me at one of her classes (after he retired) and now we both go to her classes 3 or 4 times a week. We look forward to our sessions and enjoy every minute. Sonja encourages us to push ourselves within our ability. She provides alternative exercises to allow for our personal limitations and health issues. Her support and encouragement inspire us to constantly strive to improve. Sonja has become more than just our trainer. We consider her to be a special friend and look forward to continuing our fitness journey, with her support.
